Sandip Das, the ex-managing director (MD) of Reliance Jio, has joined the advisory board of Sterlite Technologies. Das had stepped down as MD of Jio in January last year.
After stepping down, he worked as a mentor to Jio division of Reliance Retail for few months but left the Mukesh Ambani owned firm in April last year. He then went on to do a three-month course in advanced management from Harvard Business School and in November joined Analysys Mason in a senior advisory role, where he is currently associated. Das is also chairman and partner of Maitreyi Capital Advisors, which is a private equity and venture capital firm investing in digital enterprises.
Das had also served as Group-CEO, Maxis Communications and Hutchison Essar Telecom (now Vodafone), India. He was one of the founding members of private telephony in India and was part of the group of individuals that founded Hutchison Max Telecom in 1994.
Apart from Das, B S Shantharaju has also joined Sterlite’s advisory board. Shantharaju’s CEO experience spans over 15 years with Indus Towers, GMR Group, Delhi International Airport and Managing Director, Gujarat Gas Company. He was the chief financial officer of SmithKline Pharmaceuticals as well.
Elaborating on the responsibilities of the Advisory Board, Anand Agarwal, CEO, Sterlite Tech, said, “Both Sandip and Shantharaju are advising us on technology and governance systems to make the business future ready.
