Sandvik Coromant, the flagship of the Sandvik Group's tooling division that specialises in cemented carbide and high speed tools for metal working, has unveiled as many as 1,650 new products under the new CoroPak range, in the country. |
The new products will cater to the needs of the automotive, aerospace and general engineering sector, said a Sandvik Coromant source in Thiruvananthapuram. The company currently has products in almost every avenue of the metal cutting industry with the new CoroPak range, he added. |

The company source said the new launches were in line with the company's practice of introducing as many as 1,000 new products with every CoroPak launch. |

It normally schedules two CoroPak product launches every year and invests nearly 6 per cent of its turnover annually towards research and development, the source added. The annual global market for Sandvik Coromant products is around $14 billion. |

The new launches are seen as coinciding with the buoyancy in the automotive and engineering sectors in India. |

According to Robindra Nath Som, general manager, Sandvik Coromant, "the latest CoroPak launch marks the addition to 'The New Insert Generation' family of products for machining, which is more secure, versatile, predictable and durable. The New Insert Generation consists of tough grades for turning and milling, which are introduced as an addition in each CoroPak. We have introduced innovative products in almost every avenue of the metal cutting industry." The tooling division of Sandvik Coromant posted sales of $3.2 billion in 2006, the source added. |
