Sanghi group representatives met Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Corporation officials last week on cement and power plants in Madhya Pradesh with an investment of Rs 4,500 crore.

"Senior executive Rao met us and we have asked them identify the location in Madhya Pradesh. He also talked to the managing director, Madhya Pradesh State Mineral Development Corporation, to discuss coal availability, mines lease, etc," said Raghav Chandra, managing director of the Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Corporation, after holding a meeting with Rao. However, Rao could not be contacted.

Chandra said, "It would be too early to say anything now. The group has to identify location and come up with a formal proposal."

The Sanghi group has cleared the project to set up in Madhya Pradesh, said a source. The group is looking at setting up a 1,000 Mw power plant and a cement plant of 3 million tonnes in the state and has demanded a land area of total 3000 acres for cement and power plants.

The group has also demanded sales tax exemptions, etc and other concessions. State government is ready to offer concessions provided that they should be in accordance with the State Industrial Promotion Policy 2004, said Mr Chandra.
