In a bid to prevent piracy, Saregama India, the entertainment outfit of the RPG group, is soon going to air public interest advertisements so that consumers know what to look out for while buying Saregama products. |
"We are also planning digital campaigns where legal notices would be put up on the Internet to prevent piracy," said Subroto Chattopadhyay, president & CEO, management board member, managing director, Saregama India. |

The company is also in the process of digitising its archives. "Our catalogue has about 300,000 music tracks, of which 100,000 are yet to be digitised," said Chattopadhyay. |

"We are on a recruitment drive and want 70 per cent of our employees to be in the 25-28 age group. This is because majority of our consumers are young and we believe young employees can plan better sales strategies for young consumers," he explained. |

Also, the company plans to recruit people from different cultural background. "This should help in understanding regional preferences in music better," he pointed out. |

The company, at present, had close to 600 employees. In the last 6 months, the company recruited almost 55 young managers."Around same number of employees have retired, so this recruitment drive," said Chattopadhyay. |

"Around 50 per cent of our young managers are women because 50 per cent of our consumers are women," he informed. |

Moreover, recruitment of the new set of people has resulted in 12 per cent reduction in company's overall expenditure. The company, for the quarter ended September, reported a staff cost of over Rs 4 crore. |
