Sasken Communication Technologies Limited today announced that Sasken Test Lab capabilities have been formally assessed and accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), India, against the stringent criteria of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and NABL Lab Accreditation requirements, for Handset protocol testing services scope — 2G/2.5G (GSM/GPRS/E-GPRS and SIM STK).
"This breakthrough achievement makes Sasken the first, and currently the only organisation in India, to provide ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited Test Lab for handset protocol testing services", the Bangalore-based company said in a statement.
"Sasken test lab provides a rich portfolio of certification and interoperability tests, to meet the increasing demand of the mobile communications industry, for comprehensive consulting and testing services", it said.
The lab offerings include assessment and services to terminal manufacturers, cellular platform providers and design houses to ensure conformity of the terminal device with the global certification forum's certification programme.
The ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation is a mandatory requirement from Global Certification Forum (GCF) to offer conformance testing services.
Meeting these standards successfully enables Sasken Test Lab to provide Handset Conformance Testing Services, as well as Handset pre-conformance Testing Services to the international market, the statement said.
Along with the GCP certification offering for GSM/GPRS/EDGE, SIM and STK, Sasken Test Lab portfolio also provides other tests such as 3G/3.5G conformance test, interoperability test, field trials and performance tests, which are currently not a part of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation scope as assessed by NABL, it said.
