Sasken to invest Euro 17m in tech upgrade

Sasken Communication Technologies on Wednesday announced its intent to invest over Euro 17 million to strengthen its position as a leading provider of applications, IP and integration services to mobile platform developers, with Euro 6 million specifically earmarked for Symbian-based solutions, says a release.
 
Sasken currently provides the Symbian global community with customisation, integration and testing services, together with core multimedia IP components and applications.
 
This focus of investment and expansion of the existing resource teams are intended to establish Sasken as the premier provider of end-to-end Symbian platform development and integration services to deliver next generation smart phone solutions.
 
"The investment, both financial and resource commitment, is one further step towards achieving our goal of establishing a world-class Symbian Competency Centre serving the global developer community," explains Colin Aitken, vice president and general manager Sasken Europe.
 
"We are already working to deliver innovative and robust solutions to a number of major European and Far Eastern customers including Japanese giant Panasonic Mobile Communications," Colin Aitken added.
 
Commenting on the engagement with Sasken, Jim Marrion, president at Panasonic Atlanta says: "We have been working with Sasken to ensure that key multimedia components are fully integrated and comprehensively tested in our products.
