Sauer Danfoss Inc., manufacturers of engineered hydraulic, electric and electronic systems, has set up a manufacturing facility at Kesnand "" 30 km from Pune.

The $1.7 billion Sauer Danfoss is also considering to make India the base for sourcing components for its global sourcing programme.

The product portfolio of the company includes hydraulic transmissions, open circuit products, orbital motors, valves, steering systems inverters and mobile electronic controls.

Wolfgang Weisser, Sauer Danfoss' vice-president for sales and marketing for Greater Europe and chairman of the board at Indian subsidiary Sauer Danfoss India, said the Indian facilities will help the company work more closely with its global customers such as John Deere and JCB.

"To begin with the Indian unit will cater to the Indian market and to a limited extent to the US and European markets," he added. Sauer Danfoss did have a presence in India through a brake valve unit in Gurgaon and later through a leased facility.

The new plant, set up with a capital investment of $7 million (about Rs 30 crore) will have a capacity to manufacturing 2.5 lakh units of hydraulic components annually.
