Schneider Electric, a provider of power and control equipment, has launched the next phase of its global technology centre's (GTC) deployment in India by opening its second facility.

The facility, which has been inaugurated in Whitefield near* Bangalore will provide an additional seating capacity of 250 engineers, according to a company release.

The first phase of the GTC was opened in February 2004. Over the last two years, Schneider Electric Management has selected, trained and groomed over 300 engineers in various disciplines like software product, embedded software, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication and electrical engineering.

According to Jacques Letzelter, the CEO of Global Technology Centre India, the newly opened technology centre would offer the engineers to acquire more domain and product knowledge. "It is a success factor for complete product development capability that makes the difference with so many service companies that are not industry-centric," he added.

Letzelter said that the GTC in India will harness the availability of high-tech talents in Bangalore who had demonstrated their ability in taking up challenges implied by new product development.

He said that the new extension marked a significant step towards the company's commitment.
