Seabuck Care, a Noida-based cosmetics company and a subsidiary of Compact International Ltd, has drawn up plans to expand operations in Rajasthan.

"We have got a tremendous response in Rajasthan with our products being available in more than 350 cosmetics and non-cosmetics counters and now we plan to increase the number to 1,000 by the next financial year," J S Rekhi, chief executive officer of Seabuck Care, said.

In Rajasthan, Seabuck Care is now looking at tapping the markets of Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Beawar, Bhilwara, Vijay Nagar, Ganganagar, and Jodhpur. In process, the firm would be targeting 2 per cent of the total turnover from Rajasthan itself, Rekhi said.

"In a year, the products of the company will be available all over India and we are expecting a turnover of Rs 12 crore," Rekhi said.

Currently, Seabuck has eight products, and the figure is likely to go past 20 by December. Giving details about the products, Rekhi said they were derived from the seabuckthorn berries that grow at the highest plantation levels in the world.

In India, the variety is found in Ladakh, Lahaul, and Spiti, and upwards of Badrinath in Uttaranchal. Seabuckthorn can be cultivated from early August till the middle of September, while it can be plucked only at dawn and dusk.

Currently, the Seabuck essence products are available in the markets of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Delhi, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh.
