This was Kant's first visit since site selection for the Rs one lakh car project.
Earlier in the day, Kant came out in strong defense of the project site and said that the company had looked at six sites before selecting Singur.
"We decided selected Singur on very sound grounds," he said when responding to a query from the audience at the Calcutta Management Association's Sir Jehangir Ghandy Memorial Lecture.
"Nobody should speak about the location, we chose it...it was completely our decision," Kant said.
He said, there were many offers from different state governments for the project. "We could not close our eyes to what was available," said Kant.
"It is for the local and national governments to decide what they want. Incentives are applicable right across the world," said Kant.
He cited competition within the UK and Europe for the company's proposed technology development centre.
