Seven new tourist centres identified

The Orissa tourism department has identified seven new tourist centres in the state in 2009, said the state tourism minister, Debi Prasad Mishra.

The tourist centres identified this year include Damdamani Pitha and Sapanapur in Cuttack district; Sidhamula and Panchupallipragana in Nayagarh district; Trahi Achyuta in Khurda district; Kailash in Deogarh district and Nije Bankeswari in Ganjam district. Out of these seven identified tourist spots, Rs 25 lakh has been approved for the development of Nije Bankeswar as a tourist spot.

The state government, which approved Rs 3.33 crore for the development of Kapilas, Mahimagadi and Saptasajya under the Destination Development Scheme, is carrying out various developmental works in these locations.
