IBM on Friday announced the appointment of Shanker Annaswamy as managing director of IBM India. |
He takes over from Abraham Thomas who has been named vice president for IBM's Global Small and Medium Business (GSMB) ASEAN/South Asia, based out of Singapore. Annaswamy will report to Satish Khatu, general manager, IBM ASEAN/ South Asia. The appointments are effective mid-July 2004. |

According to a communique from IBM India, Annaswamy will be responsible for the operations of IBM India, including all product and services divisions as well as the company's sales and distribution. |

He joins IBM from GE Medical Systems (GEMS) where he served as president and chief executive officer for GEMS South Asia and managing director Wipro-GEMS. |
