"We have chalked out an investment plan of Rs 6,500 crore, which would be completed within the next five years," S Hajara, chairman and managing director of SCI, said.
Instead of making investments in specific projects, SCI will pump in over Rs 1,000 crore every year to meet the challenges in the international shipping market, Hajara added.
"Our focus would now be on sectors like crude, LNG and bulk carrier with special emphasis on the offshore segment," he said.
SCI is also planning to increase its presence in the offshore oil segment, he said, and added that the company could consider joint ventures with foreign companies.
