Chennai-based Shivsu Canada Pure Fillers Pvt Ltd (SCPF) has entered into a joint venture agreement with Belgium-based Prodeb Brewery & Technology, a brewery equipment provider, to provide total turnkey solutions for micro breweries and brewpubs (a micro brewery is a small brewery with a limited production capacity which produces hand-crafted beers).
The demand for beer is growing 25-30 per cent per annum in India and Shivsu wants to capitalise on the opening of micro brewery licences by the government in several states.
It expects to establish at least 75 to 100 micro breweries at an investment of Rs 1.5 - 2 crore each by the end of 2011-12, amounting to a turnover of Rs 100-150 crore annually and providing a job opportunity to over 1,500 people.
