Shree Cement today reported a net loss of Rs 71.37 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2010 on higher depreciation and interest cost.
The company had registered a net profit of Rs 235.64 crore in the corresponding quarter of the 2008-09 fiscal, Shree Cement said in a statement.
Turnover of the firm, however, increased by 17 per cent to Rs 944 crore during the quarter, as against Rs 805 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Higher depreciation at Rs 278.61 crore vis-a-vis Rs 54.69 crore and interest payment of Rs 50.4 crore against Rs 11.54 in the corresponding quarter led to the loss for the company.
Year-on-Year net profit increased by 17 per cent to Rs 676.1 crore compared to Rs 577.97 crore in the 2008-09 fiscal.
Turnover also went up by 34 per cent to Rs 3,632 crore as against Rs 2,711 crore in FY'09.
