Shree Cement will invest Rs 1,000 crore over the next 12 months to expand its cement and power plant capacity.
The investments would be made in two grinding units in Rajasthan and Uttaranchal, and two power plants of 50MW each at Bangur city. It also includes a waste heat recovery project christened “Green power projects” expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2009-10, giving the company a green power capacity of 43MW.
The plants would utilize waste heat generated from the company’s cement plants. On the occasion of Earth Day, the company has decided to buy 1,000 “environment friendly” Nano cars launched by the Tata group.
The company press release said, Nano (petrol) is ranked the most fuel efficient and environment friendly car in the world. H M Bangur, managing director, Shree Cement said, “The Nano cars will not only benefit our employees but will prove to be a boon in cutting down the emission of greenhouse gases.”
Last month, Shree Cement commissioned its clinker manufacturing unit of one million tonne at Bangur City, in the Pali district of Rajasthan.
