Shreyas Shipping is planning to set up five logistics parks across the country at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore, with an objective to enter multimodal logistics sector. The company has decided to float capital issue to fund the expansion. |
The Mumbai-based coastal shipping company will initially set up 20,000 sq ft warehousing and logistics facilities at Kandla and Kochi ports soon. |
"Shreyas is in the process of finalising location for three more logistic parks. While one park will be in Tamil Nadu, we are looking at similar facilities in northern and central India," said Anil Devli, executive director, Shreyas Shipping. |
The company is planning to provide storage, consolidation, packaging, repackaging and distribution of cargo in the proposed logistic parks. These parks may have cold storage chains also to offer end-to-end logistics solutions. |
"At a later stage, some of these logistic parks will be converted into container freight stations (CFSs) for domestic cargo. We will be acquiring more vehicles to support the logistic activities in the country," said Devli. The company's planned capital issue could either be a domestic one or an international offering in one or more foreign markets. |
The company had earlier announced Rs 350 crore capital expansion programme including acquisition of second hand and brand new vessels. |
"The mode of financial instrument for the capital raising plan has not yet finalised. It may be foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) or depository receipts. We may not raise entire Rs 350 crore from overseas market. It will be a proper mix of debt and equity," said Devli. |
Shreyas Shipping will acquire three container vessels for Rs 150 crore. It has signed an agreement with Singapore Technologies Marine for building a new container vessel of 1070 twenty foot equivalent units at the cost of Rs 100 crore. |
