Shreyas Shipping Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 11.27 crore for the quarter ended June 30 2005, up 333.75 per cent from Rs 2.60 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
 
Sales for the quarter stood at Rs 34.23 crore, up 93.28 per cent from Rs 17.71 crore in the same period of the previous year.
 
Operating profit for the quarter was Rs 14.95 crore, up 177.36 per cent from Rs 5.39 crore a year ago. Earnings per share for the quarter ended June 2005 was Rs 5.52 against Rs 1.15 for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
 
Sundaram Brake net down 3%
 
Sundaram Brake Linings registered a net profit of Rs 2.50 crore in the first quarter of 2005-06, down by 3.10 per cent against Rs 2.58 crore seen in the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
Net sales for the first quarter was Rs 35.66 crore, higher by 11 per cent compared with the year-ago period's Rs 32.22 crore. Domestic sales grew by 16 per cent over the previous year to Rs 19.84 crore.
 
Export growth was slower at 5 per cent, while actual export turnover stood at Rs 15.82 crore. Profit margin was under pressure in relation to the previous year largely on account of increase input costs and employee costs.
 
Tata Coffee net up 56%
 
Coffee plantation company Tata Coffee has registered 55.67 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 2.73 crore for Q1 FY 2006 against Rs 1.21 crore for Q1 FY 2005.
 
Sales dipped by 47.25 per cent to Rs 27 crore for Q1 FY 2006 against Rs 39.76 crore in Q1 FY 2005. Earnings per share for Q1 FY 2006 was at Rs 2.19 against Re 0.98 registered in Q1 FY 2005.
 
According to company's chairman R K Krishna Kumar, the reduction in turnover was owing to lower volume of coffee sales which would be recouped in coming months.
 
Trent net up 60%
 
Trent Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 5.23 crore for the quarter ended June 30 2005, up 60.34 per cent from Rs 3.26 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
 
Total income stands at Rs 75.35 crore, up 51.84 per cent from Rs 49.62 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year.
 
However, at Rs 1.34 crore, other income for the quarter fell 50.91 per cent from Rs. 2.73 crore in the first quarter of last year.
 
Profit before interest and tax for the retail segment in the quarter rose by 91.79 per cent to Rs. 5.82 crore compared to Rs. 3.03 crore a year earlier.
 
Income for the segment increased by 58.26 per cent to 73.70 crore from Rs. 46.57 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year.
