Dewas-based Shriniwas Fibers Pvt Ltd has plans to invest Rs 25 crore in its recycle paper plant. The investment plan also involves setting up a 3 Mw thermal power unit. |
At present, the unit produces 30 tonnes of corrugated boxes each day. The new unit will recycle old 100 tonnes of corrugated boxes, brown paper, and imported old corrugated boxes daily. |
"We are targeting the completion of the Dewas plant investment within a year. It will start sometime in April and will be ready for commercial production by the end of 2007-08. Earlier, we had planned to invest Rs 5-10 crore in the unit but have made changes in the investment plan in view of the growing demand and power outage," Anand Bangur, chief executive officer of the company, told Business Standard. |
In view of the growing demand in the processing market the company has increased the quantum of investment. Shree Packers, the promoting group of the company, has a presence in Bhopal, Ujjain, Bhiwani Mandi (Rajasthan) and Gwalior. |
The group has set up a unit in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) with an investment of Rs 3 crore. The Baddi unit will manufacture 1,000 tonnes per month. |
"With these units our production will increase to 3,500 tonnes per month from the existing 2,500 per month," said Bangur. The Baddi unit will also manufacture cones, used in the textile industry. |
The Dewas unit will feed domestic plants with 50 per cent of its production and the rest will be supplied to the market. Corrugated paper boxes are used in packaging pharmaceutical products, processed food, fresh fruits and vegetables, soaps, cosmetics, beverages, distilleries, cigarettes, textiles, yarns, electric lamps, electronics, glasses, engineering goods and consumer durables. |
Textiles and the processed food business are the largest consumers of corrugated boxes in India. |
India's corrugated box business is mostly organised and produces one million tonnes of corrugated boxes annually. With this investment and in view of the market, the company (Shree Packers) is expecting its turnover to increase to Rs 100 crore next year from the existing Rs 70 crore. |
