Siemens bags Rs 68 cr cement sector orders

Siemens Ltd's industrial solutions and services division has won three orders worth Rs 68 crore, including two export orders, in the cement industry.
 
The contracts are from National Cement Company, Yemen, Ashaka Cement Plant (Lafarge), Nigeria, and Vasavadatta Cement, Karnataka, said the company in a release.
 
The largest of the three orders is from the National Cement Company for the green field turnkey contract at Al Anad, Yemen.
 
The other two orders comprise Ashaka Cement plant upgrade from 1,200 tonne per day (tpd) to 1500 tpd in Nigeria and expansion of one million tpa cement plant of Vasavadatta Cement in Karnataka.
 
"These are breakthrough orders for us in the cement industry. This has also given a thrust to our efforts of increasing presence in the neighbouring countries," said J Schubert, managing director, Siemens Ltd.
 
The most significant project is the greenfield turnkey contract to build 3,450 tpd cement plant from the National Cement Company for value of approximately Rs 546 million, the release said.
 
This is the largest overseas project in the cement industry won by Siemens in consortium with KHD Germany.
 
The scope of the contract includes designing and engineering of the plant's electrical system, supply of equipments, supervision of installation, commissioning of the system and also the training of customer personnel. The project will be completed in 14 months.
 
The project from Vasavadatta Cement of the B K Birla's Kesoram Group with value of about Rs 100 million for the expansion of Vasavadatta Cement unit 3 is the result of 'siemens one' initiative.
 
This project, to be collectively executed by three divisions of Siemens Ltd, includes the automation, low voltage switchgear and motors package.
 
The project for the upgrade of Ashaka Cement plant from 1,200 tpd to 1,500 tpd was bagged from Humboldt Wedag India Ltd.
 
The scope of work comprises supply and supervision of installation and commissioning of electrical and automation systems for the five-stage pre-heater circuit and roller press circuit in the cement mill area.
 
The execution schedule for this project is eight to ten months.
