Siemens has announced the launch of its advanced research centre "" Siemens Corporate Technology (CT) India "" in Bangalore. This centre, the ninth of its kind in Siemens' global operations, will serve as a network hub for a part of the Asian regions. |
Announcing this in Bangalore on Monday, Claus Weyrich, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and Head of Siemens Corporate Technology said: "Research needs to be carried our where science and technology are vibrant. This is why we are significantly expanding our research network across the globe, especially at locations that serve as network hubs. India has tremendous R&D strengths including talented manpower and Siemens is dedicating its efforts to leverage its full potential. Our aim is to build a world class research centre that will own and drive new core technologies from India." |

The CT centre in India will initially hire 30 professionals and will focus on research areas related to medical, information technology and security automation. The researchers will be working on programs centered on embedded systems for computer vision, smart visual and audio processing devices for security and automotive applications, client server technologies for next generation of medical imaging solution and software engineering technologies for multi-site global product line developments. |

"These are new emerging technological areas for Siemens globally and CT in India has been identified to build complementary competencies for its existing CT labs worldwide," added Weyrich. The nine Siemens CT centres across the globe form the advanced research oriented part of the 150 R&D centres that Siemens runs across the world. |

Weyrich further noted that Siemens CT India will foster relationships with universities such as IITs, IIITs and IISc as a key element in order to extend CT's international network. |
