A consortium of Siemens India and Siemens AG, Germany has been awarded a contract worth Rs 4,000 crore by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for the development of phase VII of the electrical grid in Qatar.According to a release issued by Siemens to the BSE today, the contract was preceded by two contracts, amounting to Rs 2,600 crore, from KAHRAMAA last fiscal. The company has already commissioned phase V and is currently executing phase VI."The scope of the latest contract is to supply 25 new sub-stations of voltages 220kV/132kV/66kV in addition to the extension of 14 sub-stations and renovation of 10 sub-stations. All sub-stations will be installed with cutting-edge electrical power equipment and substation automation systems supplied in-house by Siemens. The order is slated to be completed within 22 months," the release added."This export order, the largest for Siemens PTD worldwide, highlights the inherent strengths and capabilities of Siemens India. Over the years, we have understood our customer's needs, as well as the specific regional requirements," J Schubert, MD of Siemens India, said.
