Sikorsky Aircraft Corp and Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) today signed an agreement to set up a joint venture for manufacturing aerospace components for the US-based firm in India.

The JV would also manufacture components for Sikorsky S-92 helicopter cabins, a release said here.

"India is certainly a key aerospace region, and we are thrilled to team up with Tata and help serve and grow the business there," Sikorsky Senior Vice-President of Operations Mick Maurer said in a statement.

"This is part of our strategy to participate meaningfully in this space, and to enhance India's capacities in this sector," Tata Advanced Systems CEO Lt General (retd) Davinder Kumar said.

The venture would be positioned to manufacture components for other aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) as well as detailed parts for the Sikorsky S-92 helicopter cabins.

It is expected that the joint venture operations would be housed in a second greenfield facility that would be constructed in Hyderabad, next to the cabin assembly building, the release said.
