Thomson Research Associates, a Canadian company manufacturing anti-microbial treatments, on Tuesday launched the Ultra-Fresh Silpure in India. Ultra-Fresh Silpure is used on many consumer products as anti-microbial agent.

It is a silver-based anti-microbial treatment for textiles and enables textile manufacturers to add superior odour and fibre degradation resistance to their products through the use of metallic silver which is a powerful anti-microbial agent.

The use of silver-based anti-microbial agents is considered to be a breakthrough and is applied at the finishing stage for the protection of the fabrics.

The product is marketed for the textile industry by Resil Chemicals, a silicones and finishes company.

Barrie Clemo, manager, sales and marketing-TRA, Canada said that by launching Ultra-Fresh Silpure, TRA has broken the cost barrier, which had restricted the use of silver-based anti-microbial agents in India till now.

"The silver-based anti-microbial agent has been achieved by combining application expertise developed over 50 years of Ultra-Fresh treatments with propriety nanotechnology manufacturing processes for metallic siver," he added.

M S Mohan, managing director, Resil Chemicals said that they already have a working partnership with TRA and consumers of sports and leisure wear will benefit a lot from this.
