Singapore-based Raffles Education Corp announced today it would open five more design colleges in India by this year-end with an investment of $24 million.
Chairman and CEO of Raffles, Chew Hua Seng, said the educational institution was looking at 20 colleges in India in the next couple of years. Key components of the Raffles' design education were foreign faculty, high-end technology and international-level infrastructure, he said in a statement.
Raffles which opened design colleges in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore in 2009 would soon be opening colleges in Chennai Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Hyderabad. The college offer courses in design technology to do with fashion, interiors, graphics, multi-media, animation and jewellery, among others.
Chew said the company would break-even with an intake of 100 students in each college in three years and have return on investment in five years time.
Raffles is also planning to set up a university in India for which it is on an exploratory mission, and sees potential in Delhi and Mumbai in this regard.
