SkodaIndia to up capacity in Aurangabad plant

SkodaIndia has plans to take its present manufacturing capacity from 30,000 to 50,000 units.
 
The company has also said it is working with Audi for using Skoda's Aurangabad plant for assembling its upcoming offerings in India.
 
"Audi and Skoda share the global synergies worldwide and we would be extending it to our manufacturing plant although marketing and front-end operations would be completely independent," said
 
Karsten Bogun,MD (Commercial) SkodaIndia. He also added that like the SkodaSuperb, which has a very high localisation, the company was talking to vendors in India for possible localisation of other models as well.
 
The company is looking at the western region as an important market for its models especially its first small car in the India, the SkodaFabia which is due to be launched by the end of the year.
 
In Gujarat, the company has expanded its dealership network to Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and shortly at Rajkot.
 
In the last five years, the company has sold over 43,000 units and this year is looking to sell 17,000 units. It has a market share of 24 per cent in the C+ segment and an overall market share of 0.8 per cent in the automobile market in India.
