SleepCare Solutions, a Hyderabad-based sleep solutions enterprise, has launched country’s first independent sleep disorder testing facility here.
According to a recent survey, sleeping disorder is a common syndrome prevalent among most Indians, irrespective of their age group, said Dr Lavanya Gali, medical director of SleepCare.
According to a Philips survey, 93 per cent of Indians are sleep deprived (getting less than 8 hours of sleep), 58 per cent felt their work suffered from lack of adequate sleep, 11 per cent took leave from work because of lack of sleep and 11 per cent fall asleep at work.
SleepCare has tied up with Philips Healthcare to offer a comprehensive approach for diagnosis and treatment of adult sleep disorders.
The facility involved an investment of Rs 1 crore. The company plans to add another 25 such units with an investment of Rs 25 crore over the next two years, Vamsi Maddipatla, director and president of SleepCare Solutions, said.
Philips to double sleep labs
Philips Healthcare, a part of Philips Electronics and hospital equipment maker, is planning to double its diagnostic centres (sleep labs) in the country from the current 120 in the next one year, Satyakam Sharma, business manager (home healthcare solutions), Philips Healthcare India, said.
