The Kerala government today signed a memorandum of understanding with the major construction company Sobha Developers to build a high-tech city in Kochi.The tech city will be developed over an area of 400 acres.The Rs 5,000 crore venture would provide 75,000 direct jobs, chairman P N C Menon said today at a conference here."We are going to build India's first fully-integrated, eco-friendly industrial township. The high-tech city is expected to be the best the country has ever seen," he said.The township being built in Marad, in the outskirts of Kochi, would be the largest in the state, he said. A 'knowledge park' with an area of 70 lakh square feet, retail shopping malls, hotels, resorts, apartments and entertainment venues would be set up in the high-tech city.The project is expected to be completed in eight years, in four stages.
