Mysore's projection as a secondary IT centre after Bangalore got a big push on Friday with Mysore-based IT company Software Paradigms (SP) announcing a major expansion plan. |
SP's expansion plan covers a two lakh square feet, 3,000-person campus to be built over the next three years in three phases with an investment of Rs 80 crore in the Hebbal industrial area. |
The centre will primarily carry out BPO activities along with IT custom software development and maintenance and software product development. As a first step, the company has acquired a 15-acre site for the centre. |
According to Siddhartha Mookerji, CEO, SP, said, "This new campus would be in addition to the three existing units. It will be an important milestone in Mysore IT." |
Incidentally, SP is the first and largest Mysore-based 100 per cent EOU software development company and is the offshore development unit of its Atlanta-based parent Software Paradigms International. |
Currently, SP has over 300 knowledge workers in Mysore and at various customer sites in the US. It has doubled its manpower over the last 12 months. The company plans to get domain experience in retail, financial like banking and healthcare for which there is a big need in the US, says SPI MD K K Mookerji. SP has revenue of $10 million this year. Of this, $2 million are foreign exchange earnings. |
"In 1991, Infosys reached $10 million. We are in that position today. Now that Infosys has hit the billion dollar revenue, we are also looking forward to that situation and are positive about reaching there," Siddhartha Mookerji adds. |
