Sonata, one of the largest selling watch brands of Titan Industries Ltd, a Tata group company, is expecting to see a boost in its sales with the launch of its new series under 'Yuva Collection'. |
In the festive season spanning over a month, Sonata expects to sell around 60,000 watches across its 600 models, including the 50 models in the Yuva series. |
Aiming at a turnover of Rs 350 crore, Sonata is hoping to tap into the growing number of young consumers buying watches. Although still at a raw stage of its conceptualisation, it is also mulling introducing a kids' range of watches. However, Regional Sales Manager for Sonata Ajay Dwivedi denied that any firm decisions have been taken on that front. |
Priced at Rs 645 onwards, the Yuva collection features 18 models for males and 32 for females. |
"We expect to sell around 3,000-4,000 Yuva models in this festive month of Dussehra and Diwali in Gujarat," said Dwivedi, adding that the company sold around 1,20,000 Sonata watches in Gujarat last year. |
Although at present Sonata does not form much part of Titan Industries' watch exports, Dwivedi said the company is hopeful of introducing more models worth exporting. |
In the organised watch market, Sonata holds 32-40 per cent market share, while Titan Industries holds around 52 per cent market share with brands like Titan, Sonata and others. |
Of the Rs 70 lakh watches sold last year, around 43 lakh watches were of the Sonata brand were sold, said Dwivedi, adding that Sonata contributes around 60-70 per cent to Titan Industries' watch sales. |
