Sony India has bagged the right to distribute in India the much-talked-about film, 'Benaras: A mystique love story', made by L C Singh, CEO of Nihilent Technologies. Sony will also distribute the film's music through its consortium, Sony BMG in India.

Singh said the film is ready for the release in April and the music will be released in the second week of March.

"We have identified Sony for distribution of both "" the film and its music "" as it has a strong reputation in the market and is among players that are closely associated with the entertainment business. He, however, did not disclose the value of either deal.

Singh said the decision on who will distribute the film and the music in the world markets is yet to be arrived at. "There are many enquiries from interested parties, and we will make our mind soon," he said.

The film is likely to be premiered in Mumbai in the second week of April.

Singh said his film is a tribute to his alma mater, Banaras, the city that symbolises the spirituality of everything that forms the Indian culture. "There is something about this place that has attracted the most intelligent, creative, philosophical and spiritual minds." he said.

Buddha, Kabir, Tulsidas and J Krishnamurthi found their eternal peace here. Even pop star Madonna visits the city to study Kundalini yoga," he said.

The star cast for the film includes the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Urmila Matondkar and Ashmit Patel. 'Benaras: A mystique love story' is directed by Pankaj Parashar, an old-time associate of Singh since his days at TCS and then Zensar. Singh has written the story himself and the screenplay is by Javed Sidiqui. Music, scored by Himesh Reshammiya, is both classical and contemporary, Singh said.
