Amid the rush for retail business among Indian corporates, speculation mounted today that corporate giant Tatas are talking to British retail major Tesco for a tie-up.When contacted, a Tata spokesperson told PTI that the reports of a venture with Tesco were unfounded.Tesco was earlier in talks with telecom major Bharti, which recently announced its tie-up with US retailer Wal-Mart. However, after talks with Bharti failed, Tesco is believed to be looking for other Indian partners.Tatas had recently tied-up with Australian firm Woolworth for tapping the rapidly growing retail market. The Indian corporate house already has presence in the retail space through its Landmark chain of stores.Besides Tata and Bharti, other domestic corporate giants such as Aditya Birla Group and Reliance Industries have announced plans for the retail sector.
