Airline to induct four Boeing 737, two Airbus A319 and will operate 291 daily flights winter schedule

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet will induct six new aircraft into its fleet. According to the airline, it will operate 291 daily flights during the winter schedule (starting October 25); up from 250 flights it operates at present on a daily basis. The airline will induct four Boeing 737 and two Airbus A319. At present, SpiceJet has 20 Boeing 737s and one Airbus A319, along with 14 Bombardier Q-400s in its fleet of 35 aircraft.

The new flight schedule will have 10 new sectors, 30 increased frequencies and 22 connected flights. “The induction of the new planes is a part of SpiceJet’s plan of operating an enhanced flight schedule to meet the winter demand while offering travellers more convenience and a great choice of flight options,” said SpiceJet. The new routes airline will fly on include Ahmedabad-Goa, Mumbai-Varanasi, Varanasi-Hyderabad, Khozhikode -Dubai, and Amritsar-Dubai. The airline has increased its frequencies on routes such as Mumbai-Chennai, Delhi-Chennai, Goa- Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata, Kolkata-Agartala, Mumbai-Kochi, Hyderabad-Mumbai, and Chennai-Madurai, among others.

The new onward connections added to the existing network include Pune - Srinagar, Delhi - Madurai, Mumbai - Madurai and Ahmedabad - Coimbatore among others, the release said.

“With this enhancement, we have significantly growing our capacity by 16 per cent. Our new winter flight schedule adds considerable depth to our existing operations to cater to the peak demand, while enhancing connectivity and boosting customer value,” said Shilpa Bhatia, senior vice-president and head of sales and distribution at SpiceJet.
