Budget carrier SpiceJet is offering discounted fares on select domestic and international routes to spur advance bookings ahead of the lean season starting January next year.

SpiceJet is offering discounts of up to 25 per cent on specified domestic routes on tickets booked on 5-6 December. The discount is being offered on base fares and on tickets for travel between December 2013 and March 2014.

Tickets on Ahmedabad-Mumbai route are available for Rs 4,550 while those on Delhi-Amritsar for Rs 4809. Bengaluru-Mumbai fares stand at Rs 6300.

On international routes, discounts range at around 15 per cent. An Ahmedabad-Muscat SpiceJet flight would cost around Rs 5,712, while flights from Delhi to Guangzhou, Kabul and Riyadh would come for Rs 9,803, Rs 11,036 and Rs 10,075 respectively.

“In recent times, the air fares have remained firm though airline load factors have remained fluid. This offer though valid for two days will ensure advance bookings and is a good measure to fuel demand. It is a welcome respite from spiraling airfares and fuel surcharges and can bring good cheer to the travellers. It is early to comment if other airlines will follow, only time will tell”, said Suraj Nair, senior vice-president (strategy & planning), Thomas Cook India Limited.
