SREI Infrastructure has obtained registration certificate from the market regulator 'Securities and Exchange Board of India' (SEBI) to launch their Mutual Fund. The company will be launching an Infrastructure Debt Fund (IDF) via the Mutual fund route. This move is said to open up long term funding options for the infrastructure sector.
Mohit Sachdev, chief executive at Srei Mutual Fund Asset Management Private Limited says, Infrastructure sector in India offers a good long term opportunity for debt investors. “Institutions like pension funds, insurance companies and Provident Funds, which have long term liabilities require investment opportunities with matching cash flows. IDF via the Mutual Fund route would make a good investment vehicle for such institutions.”
