This follows a decision by the primary steel producers last week to cut prices of flat products by Rs 4,000 a tonne and long products by Rs 2,000 a tonne.
There is no move by the primary steel producers to rollback the price cut they announced last week owing to the export duty notification on steel.
The export duty is being examined, Pandey told reporters after the meeting. On May 10, the government notified an export duty of upto 15 per cent on steel.
