Strike at M&M's engine plant

The company has suspended a couple of workers who triggered tool down strike by worker's union

Mumbai-based utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra said that the company experienced stoppage of work at its engine making plant in Igatpuri, Maharashtra.

The company had suspended a couple of workers who triggered the tool down strike by the worker's union.

"There has been a stoppage of work at the company's Igatpuri plant due to a tool down strike by the Union. This is post the suspension of two workmen on disciplinary grounds one of them being an union office bearer", said the company in statement.

"The company is in constant dialogue with the union for an early solution of the issue", M&M added in the statement.

This is the second such instance of a strike for M&M in 2013. The Nashik plant which makes Xylo, Verito among other models also suffered a total shut down for a few days in March over pending issues relating to wages and suspension of a few workers of the Union.

Mahindra also clarified that it has currently sufficient stock of engines for production of its vehicles.
