Su-Kam charged up by UP solar energy sector

Power back-up solutions provider Su-Kam Power is looking to tap the uninitiated solar energy sector in Uttar Pradesh.

The company, which forayed into the solar energy space over 4 years back, is looking at turnkey projects in Uttar Pradesh and other states.

In this regard, Su-Kam is holding talks with the state Non-conventional Energy Development Agency and also private sector players desirous of setting up solar energy power plants in Uttar Pradesh.

He said things would start moving in the next two months and the company would launch a comprehensive publicity drive in the state.

“There is huge untapped potential in the solar energy space in UP, however, the state government has not been aggressive, although there is the provision of 30 per cent subsidy provided by the Centre,” Su-Kam CEO and managing director Kunwer Sachdev told Business Standard.

Pan-India, the company is looking at doing projects totalling 50 Mw of solar energy this financial year.

He informed Su-Kam was in touch with some international majors in the solar energy space for a possible joint venture. “The joint venture would be launched in the next three months,” he said.

In the current financial year, Su-Kam is targetting 10 per cent topline from the solar energy segment.
