Sun Network, the second largest Indian television network, in the country plans to enter the direct-to-home (DTH) on its own, and has sought government permission to start operations. |
Kalanithi Maran, chairman and managing director, Sun Network told Business Standard, "We have filed an application with the information and broadcasting ministry. We think that we can manage alone without a partner." |
When asked about the investment on the DTH venture, Maran said that it involved large investments but declined to give more information. |
If the government gives the license in the next three months, we expect to start the DTH venture by the end of the year, he added. |
Unlike other television ventures, the gestation period for this venture is a long time before one could see profits, he added. |
