Sun TV appoints media companies for US expansion

In a move, to expand further in the North American market, Sun TV network has appointed Global Media Management LLC and World Media LLC to manage and grow its distribution and advertising business, respectively in the region.

Global Media Management, a consulting, rights management and acquisition company will operate, manage and increase the distribution of Sun TV’s offerings in the North American markets. The company will offer services across DTH, cable TV and IPTV platforms over closed communications network in North America according to a press release issued by Sun TV Network. Meanwhile, World Media Connect LLC will exclusively focus on managing and bolstering the advertising revenues of the Network from the same market.

According to the company, the key focus behind this strategic move is to diverge and expand into the North American markets by increasing subscription base and consecutively growing advertising revenues. This move is expected to give the Network a competitive edge in distribution of services across varied platforms and promoting new television content to satisfy a diverse customer profile.

Ajay Vidyasagar, COO, Sun TV Network commented on the move, “This is a strategic move for us to further expand into global markets for our offerings. This initiative is focused on better monetisation of our content, both from the subscriber and the advertising revenue end. It also gives us a mean to leverage our successful television brands to a larger and international audience while maintaining a consistent and distinguished quality of services to the end customer.”

The company’s stock is currently trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) at Rs 494, gaining Rs 4 or 0.83 per cent. The 30-share BSE Sensex is also up 153 points or 0.8 per cent at 19,290.
