Kalanithi Maran-owned Sun TV Network (Sun TV) has signed a contract with YouTube and iTunes to facilitate the sale of Sun TV proprietary content on a pay-for-view basis.

The company has been launching new initiatives to monetise its content libraries by partnering with global digital distribution platforms.

In an announcement to National Stock Exchange (NSE), Sun TV said that it has executed formal contracts with YouTube and iTunes to facilitate the sale of Sun TV's proprietary content on a pay-for-view basis. It also signed an agreement with Mumbai-based Purple IFE Ltd recently to deploy its content library for inflight entertainment.

"By tying up with Purple, the company has successfully licensed some of its immensely popular programming in Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam and Kannada launguages to provide premium inflight entertainment on leading airlines," said Sun TV.  The Sun Group, which is promoted by Media tycoon Maran, owns Spicejet.
