Media house Sun TV Network today reported a rise of 20.54 per cent in its net profit at Rs 130.56 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, over the same period a year earlier.
The company's income rose to Rs 320.3 crore in the latest quarter of the current financial year from Rs 237.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, Sun TV Network said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Sun TV Networks operates 20 satellite television channels in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The company also runs FM radio stations.
For the half year ended September 30, 2009, the company posted a net profit of Rs 250.36 crore, up 18.74 per cent as against Rs 210.85 crore in the same period a year ago.
"The channels have been able to maintain their advertising growth from a well-diversified mix of clients (national, regional and local) across multiple product categories," Sun TV Network said.
Shares of Sun TV Network were trading at Rs 328.90, up 2.62 per cent in afternoon trade on the BSE.
