The Supreme Court today dismissed the petition filed by Zee Telefilms challenging a Madras High Court order upholding the BCCI's decsion not to award the telecast rights to it.A division bench of the Madras High Court had, on May 2, upheld the BCCI decision to cancel the tender process for awarding the telecast rights for international cricket matches till 2008.The bench set aside a single bench order on March 21, which held that the cancellation was "improper."The single bench had directed the board to call for fresh tenders, and permitted Zee Telefilms and ESPN to participate in the fresh tender proceedings. The division bench, however, held that records clearly demonstrate that there was no concluded contract between Zee Telefilms and BCCI.The division bench allowed an appeal by the BCCI challenging the single bench order directing it to call for fresh tenders. The bench also allowed an appeal by Jagmohan Dalmiya against the single judge's remarks against him.
