Surya launches T-5 tube lights in India

Surya Roshini Limited (SRL) today launched T5 lamps claiming that it saved 85 per cent of energy and more than Rs 600 in a year in terms of amount saved against power bills.

The life of a T5 Surya tube light is 15 years (15000 hours, based on 3.3 hours usage per day with an electronic ballast). Surya uses the world's best Triband Phosphor Fluorescent powder, from Japan which gives highest lumen (light) output. It works at voltages as low as 140 V and can withstand upto 280 V, SRL Chairman and Managing Director told reporters here today.

"The T5, launched for the first time in India would save 85 per cent energy," he said.

Surya is the first company to receive the Energy efficient Star rating for T8 and T12 tube lights from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in India. These are produced in the world's best machines from Europe, he said.

Agarwal said that the group was targeting to grow its revenue from Rs 1,750 crore to 5,000 crore in next three years and would add 3-5 more plants in the country, increasing the manpower strength from present 6000 to 12,000 by the next year.

He said that the company was exporting is products to 40 countries including those in Europe apart from Germany, USA and Canada.
