Surya Roshini to set up Rs 100-cr plant in MP

Surya Roshni Ltd, a leader in the lighting and steel pipes business in India, is going for a major expansion programme by setting up a new manufacturing plant at Malenpur in Madhya Pradesh with an investment of Rs 100 crore.

The second largest lighting company in the country, Surya Roshni is also expanding its Kashipur manufacturing facility in Uttarakhand with an investment of Rs 20 crore.

Arvind Bansal, Deputy Managing Director of the company said, it had bought a 48-acre plot at Malenpur for building the new facility to produce bulbs, tubes and CFLs. “This is going to be largest galvanised plant in India,” Bansal said. This facility, which will be second in Malenpur, will have high mast and octagonal pole for outdoor application.

He said that the Kashipur facility was being expanded by setting up 4 new chains of CFL with a total capacity of producing 20 lakh CFL bulbs.The company with a turnover of Rs 1,750 crores is investing Rs 550 crores in the next three years to become a Rs 5,000-crore group.

The company is also exporting to 45 countries across the globe including the US and Europe. The company has two state-of-the-art plants one each at Kashipur in Uttarakhand and Malanpur in Madhya Pradesh where the entire range of light sources and HID is produced.

The group was also expanding to give 6,000 new jobs in one year, Bansal added.

On its upcoming Bhuj plant, Bansal said the company had already started trial production but actual production would start only in January next year. The company has invested Rs 400 crore in the Bhuj plant to produce spiral pipes for the oil and gas sector.
