Surya Roshni eyes Rs800 crore turnover in 2010-11

Surya Roshni Limited, one of India's leading lighting companies, has targeted a pan-India turnover of Rs800 crore in the current financial year. If achieved, this would be a growth of 33 per cent over the sales of Rs600 crore which the company had achieved in 2009-10.

Addressing media persons here, Kalyan Mojumder, deputy national sales manager of Surya Roshni Ltd said, “This fiscal, we have set a countrywide sales target of Rs800 crore compared to Rs600 crore which we did in 2009-10. In Orissa, the company expects to clock a turnover ofRs 20 crore in the current fiscal.”

The company is planning to increase its focus on the CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) segment and aims to have the biggest manufacturing facility form CFLs in Asia.

"As of now, we have the capacity to produce the 55 lakh CFLs per month and in the next four years, we aim to have the largest manufacturing capacity for CFLs. The company is presently the second biggest player in the lighting segment in the country and we are aiming to grab the number one position. While the market for lighting products in the country grew by 12 per cent last year, our company registered a growth of 53 per cent”, said Mojumder.

Surya Roshni claims to have the biggest manufacturing facility for bulbs and tubelights at Mallanpur near Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). The company has a capacity to produce 4500 finished bulbs per hour and six crore units of tubelights per annum.

Besides catering to the burgeoning domestic demand, Surya is also exporting tubelights to 40 countries.The company on Wednesday, launched its energy efficient T8 tubelights in the city.

The T8 (36 W) tubelights are three times longer than the conventional tubelights and have an average life of 15000 hours. Some of the features of these tubelights are lower power bills, better light quality, better comfort, longer life, higher lux levels and better visibility.

Commeting on the features of these energy efficient tubelights, Mojumder said, “Surya T8 tubelights have been awarded fie star rating by the Government of India through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. These tubelights save 85 per cent power compared to a normal bulb, reduce glare and are very soothing to the eyes.”
