Lighting and steel pipes maker Surya Roshni Ltd (SRL) is planning to double its production capacity by end of next year. The expansion includes products like tubes, bulbs and CFL lamps. The company is investing ' 50 crore in the existing plants to double the production capacity.
Commenting on this, Chandan Mehra, deputy sales manager said, " The demand for Surya products is increasing day by day. We are the second largest manufacturer of bulbs, tubes and CFLlamps in the country having market share of 25 per cent. We are increasing our production capacity of products like bulbs, tubes and CFL lamps. The company is planning to doubl the production capacity by end of 2011 from our in Kashipur near Nanitala and Malanpur near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. More than 6000 new jobs will be created under this expansion plan. "
According to Mehra, Surya is doubling the production of tube lights from 30 lakh units to 60 lakh units per year It produces 1.75 bulbs annually. Also, it has plan to increase production of CFL from 45 lakh units to 60 lakh units.
The company is also exporting to 45 countries across the globe including the US and Europe. The company has two plants one each at Kashipur in Uttarakhand and Malanpur in Madhya Pradesh where the entire range of light sources and HID is produced. The group was also expanding to give 6,000 new jobs in one year. It exports 10 lakh tubes and 20 lakh bulbs to the Asian and European countries. Surya has 1500 distributors and one lakh retailers all over India. The company is eying on 35 per cent market share and having turnover of Rs 2000 crore and employee strength of 6000 people. The company today launched two energy efficient tube lights T8 and T5 in the Pune market.
