Suzlon Group on Monday announced bagging an order of 105 megawatt (Mw) from independent power producer (IPP) Greenko Group.

According to Suzlon, with over one Gigawatt (Gw) operational assets, Greenko Group is the largest IPP in India. The project will be located in Andhra Pradesh, India and will be progressively commissioned by January 2017.

"The 105 Mw project will be located in Andhra Pradesh and likely to commissioned by January next year," said Ishwar Mangal, chief sales officer, Suzlon Group, adding that the government's move on renewable energy at the policy level was supportive and encouraged the IPPs to enter in renewable energy sector.

"The Indian Government's thrust on renewables and its conducive policies have encouraged IPPs to foray in the renewable energy sector.

Today, IPPs are integral to our capacity build up in India," said Mangal, while adding that it is a clear indication of the traction in overseas IPPs' engagement with sustainable renewable technologies like wind energy.
