Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL), India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, has bagged an order from Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) to set up, operate and maintain its 52.5 MW wind energy project in the Rajkot and Porbandar districts of Gujarat.
The project will be supplied in 35 units of 1.5 MW wind turbine generators and it is scheduled to be completed and commissioned by July, 2010. The power generated from this project will be purchased by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited under a long term PPA with GSPL.
Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPCL), the parent company of GSPL, has an existing wind power project of 52.5 MW in the Kutch district. This new project will take the group’s overall wind power installed capacity to 105 MW, all in the state of Gujarat. The process to register this existing wind power project with the UNFCC under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) program is already initiated and will also be followed for the new project.
