Bolstered by 20-25 per cent estimated growth in wind power generation by 2010, Suzlon Energy today said it would augment its manufacturing capacity by 5,700 Mw by June 2009.

"We would raise our manufacturing capacity to (be in a position to generate) 5,700 Mw from the current 4,000 Mw by the end of the first quarter of the next fiscal (2009-10)," Suzlon Energy Chairman and Managing Director Tulsi Tanti told reporters here.

Further, Tanti said, "During the calender year 2007 and 2008, the sector registered a (total) 35 per cent growth. But there would be flat 2009. However, 20-25 per cent growth (worldwide) is expected in 2010."

Tanti was quite optimistic that the United States, China, Europe, Australia and India would be major growth drivers for the sector in the coming years.

About profitability in the sector amid recession, he opined that though there would be flat 2009, but even maintaining status quo during this financial crisis was important, which was not the case for many sectors.

"Our 40 per cent of business (sales) comes in the fourth quarter of every fiscal. We would declare profit in our fourth quarter result," he added.
